Table 23Timmy Mallett once used the toilets of the Mermaid cafe! But empty seats attract empty people, in a city where everyone is constantly searching for their someone. What is it to be lonely? What's behind the pasta promises and facebook facade? Window seat madam? Take Table 23!! 'Table 23' is set in the humdrum yet monotone life of a backstreet Italian restaurant in London, and takes a look at people passing through. Seen through the eyes of one lonely man, the lives of his fellow others appear mesmerising and spectacular, a far cry from his own. But who can define loneliness? The stories are told through a mish mash of physical and visual work, incorporating elements of clowning, puppetry and acrobats, fused with moments of truth, honesty, and vulnerability. |
